Alkyl polyglucoside refers to the alkyl glycoside (Alkyl Polyglucoside. APG for short) synthesized from glucose and aliphatic alcohol. It refers to the glycoside whose sugar unit is greater than or equal to 2 in the complex glycoside compound. . In general, the polymerization degree n of the alkyl polyglycoside is in the range of 1.1~3, and R is an alkyl group of C8~C16. APG is white solid powder or light yellow oily liquid at room temperature, and has high solubility in water and is difficult to dissolve in common organic solvents.
Alkyl polyglycosides have low surface tension, no cloud point, adjustable HLB value, strong wetting power, strong detergency, rich and delicate foam, strong compatibility, non-toxic, harmless, non-irritating to the skin, and biodegradation is rapid and complete. It can be compounded with any type of surfactant, and the synergistic effect is obvious. With strong broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, the product has a significant thickening effect, is easy to dilute, has no gel phenomenon, and is easy to use. And strong alkali resistance, strong acid resistance, hard water resistance, strong salt resistance. It can be used as the main raw material of daily chemical industry such as shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, dishwashing liquid, vegetable and fruit cleaning agent. It is also used in synthetic detergents such as soap powder, phosphorus-free detergent, and phosphorus-free washing powder. It can be used as emulsifying and dispersing agent for food, pesticide and silicone oil; synergist for insecticides and herbicides; agricultural film antifogging agent, plastic auxiliary; also used in medicine, bioengineering, industrial cleaning, fire-fighting agent, textile auxiliary , coatings, photosensitive materials, tanning, oil extraction, mineral processing, rubber and plastics, energy and other fields.
APG has advantages in product safety (does not contain toxic by-product dio// xane), mildness and antibacterial properties. In line with the future development direction of personal care products, it will replace the existing petroleum-based surfactants and become the mainstream surfactants.
APG can also be used to prepare solid dispersions, plastic additives. Although APG is a stable compound, various esters and other derivatives (such as ethers) can be further synthesized by using the remaining three hydroxyl groups on the sugar group. If APG is connected with carboxylic acid or other acid, various anionic esters of APG can be obtained, such as sulfosuccinate, citrate, tartrate, maleate, sulfate, phosphate and the like. The first three esters are available in foreign markets. They have good foaming properties, compatibility, mild to skin, no eye irritation, and do not contain dioxan /e, ethylen e oxide and nitrosamines, so they are very suitable in cosmetics and personal protection products. In addition, APG can also synthesize alkoxylate and quaternary ammonium salt cation SAA, etc.
